Network Monthly Spend Caps

  • In 2007 the EU put a Monthly Spend Cap on content and products purchased through phone bills.
  • The Monthly Spend Cap is £240.
  • The Spend Cap resets on the 1st day of each month.
  • The Spend is the total spent on all 3rd party products.
  • The Cap is calculated and applied by your mobile network.
  • Most Spend Caps were imposed at network level early 2020.
  • The reason for this was touted as ‘consumer protection’ but was probably more to do with preventing the mobile networks competing with the banks.
  • You can still access the services we offer using a credit or debit card.
  • We have made the payment pages quick, easy and secure.
  • As we do not have to pay the mobile networks to do this billing, we are able to offer the same services, on the same codes, at up to HALF the equivalent Premium Rate price 🙂
  • The payment link we sent you is unique to you.
  • Once your account is Topped Up the credits are ready for you to use whenever you like.
  • Our payment provider can store your card details so that subsequent top-ups are even easier.
  • When we send a message to you we get a delivery receipt from your mobile network.
  • If you have hit the Spend Cap your network sends us ‘Spend Limit Reached’.
  • Your network will then not let you spend again until the 1st of the next month 🙁
  • All UK networks have adopted the ‘Payment Services Directive 2’ (PSD2)
